I moved back home to the DC area after about 10 years of flying for the US Air Force. I currently live in Alexandria, VA with my wife Mary Margaret and our 3 year old diva of a RR, Lucy. Lucy is our first RR and first dog that either of us have ever had. Thankfully, I was able to meet my first ridgeback and ridgeback breeders at the CBARRC Fall Fun Day in 2008. We fell in love with the breed and just a few months later we brought Lucy home. With out a doubt Lucy has changed our life for the better. Lucy has gotten us involved in so many new things like dog shows, field trials and CBARRC activities. Lucy has excelled at both conformation and lure coursing and earned her Dual Championship earlier this year. Through events like dog showing, lure coursing and other CBARRC club events we have had lots of fun with our Lucy but more importantly made many new friends along the way.

One of my goals is to continue to develop the network of local RR owners into a group that can actively help and support our fellow ridgeback owners. I would also like to find new ways to introduce local RR owners to new and interesting activities that they can do with their dogs.

Currently, I have one Rhodesian Ridgeback - his name is Sam (GCh. Lamarde Perro A Drop of the Adriatic, JC, HIC, TT). I am also the co-owner of Mason (Ancient Hill Not Taken for Granite), one of Sam's puppies from his first litter.

I have been been involved with RRs for the past ten years and had two other RRs - Indi and Blue. In those years, I have been involved in conformation (Sam is my first champion and is now a GCh, as well) and have tried to be involved with lure coursing, but to date, have not had a dog who loves to course. Next, I plan to work with Sam to get his therapy dog certification. Also, I have worked with Ridgeback Rescue at various times - both fostering and transporting dogs.

I was born and raised in the Chesapeake Bay Area and animals have been a focal point of my life. I live on a farm in Montgomery County with lots of dogs, cats, chickens, horses and my mascot, Zipper, a Plains Zebra.
Although I like to relax and play with my animals, I also compete in both horse and dog shows. I love all animals, but Ridgebacks hold a special place in my heart. I lost the light of my life, my first Ridgeback, Gordy, early in 2007. I now have two adorable Ridgeback boys in my life, Brody and Colby. They are both active boys and will be participating in conformation, lure coursing, and herding.
When I'm not goofing off with my animals, I run a successful wealth management practice. I'm a Certified Financial Planner(r) (CFP(r)) and a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) which has helped me to fulfill my responsibilities as Treasurer of CBARRC. I have been actively involved with the club since 2001 and have really seen the club grow and evolve over time. It's exciting to see all of the activities the club now sponsors and the high level of participation and membership.

I met my first Ridgeback mix when I met my husband Michael in 1997. Samson was a Ridgeback/Doberman mix. I was amazed at how loving and loyal he was. I have been hooked on Ridgebacks ever since. When my husband and I started talking about getting another dog we started researching Ridgeback breeders in the area. In April of 2001, we brought our first Ridgeback, Midnight, home. Since then we have also added Cher, Bailey and Abby. I enjoy spending time with my husband, our dogs and cats.
I am currently showing Bailey, who is almost 2 years old, as well as attending obedience classes with her. She is the first dog I have ever shown. I also enjoy attending the Fun Days that CBARRC offers every year. They are a great way to meet other people interested in Ridgebacks.

For the last 15 years I have worked for the YMCA. Currently I am a Regional Business Services Director for the Baltimore area. I oversee the Business Offices and Human Resource functions in several locations. Throughout my tenure with the “Y’ I have worked with fundraising, special events as well as helping with onsite IT problems and various other tasks. In May 2005, I received my Master of Science in Applied Information Technology from Towson University.

In the coming years I would like to see our club continue to grow and have Fun Day events as well as offer educational and training seminars, and health screenings.

I live in Springfield, Virginia with my husband, David, our sons Michael, Steven, Matthew, and Marcus, our RRs Poggio, Gabbi, Loren and our Scotties Duncan and Finnie.
I joined CBARRC several years ago so that I would be involved in a group that could help me learn more about my Ridgebacks. Through my association with the group, I have been involved in obedience classes, conformation, lure coursing, herding, rescue, and having just plain fun.
My involvement with non-profit organizations has been extensive. I have helped with Gonzaga High School’s memorabilia sales and West Springfield High School’s Football Parents Touchdown Club, particularly in the areas of fund-raising and organization. Some of my goals for CBARRC include obtaining sponsorships to raise funds, establishing a group to get initial therapy training for their Ridgebacks, and helping the association to become more inclusive of all Ridgebacks and their owners. Another avenue that I would like to pursue would be the development of neighborhood social/play groups. As the Ridgeback population has grown, it is imperative that there is a local organization that owners can turn to for any issue with their Ridgebacks. My vision is to see CBARRC become the club of choice for all Ridgebacks and their owners.

I got my first Ridgeback 16 years ago, as a trial run prior to having kids. Kamau was a wonderful sweet dog that enriched our lives for 13 years. We now have 3 Rhodesian Ridgebacks, Susi (6 years), Fizz (2 years) and Ida Belle (5 months) that share our home in Great Falls, Virginia. Although they have 2 acres of fenced yard to run and play in, they spend all of their time laying on the stairs to the back porch waiting to get inside to the comfort of home.

Over the last 6 years, we have actively shown all of our dogs. I started handling Susi in the ring, but quickly came to the conclusion that I am a much better as a spectator. Outside of my passion for my family and my dogs, I work full-time for a drug development organization. I have had the opportunity to travel within the United States and internationally. In fact on a trip to India last year, I met a family with 6 Ridgebacks that they acquired in Kenya.

As a board member of CBARRC, my goal is to actively participate in events that support our community of Rhodesian Ridgeback lovers! In addition, I look forward to being a steward for the goals of Ridgeback Rescue and continue to foster dogs in transition. I am honored to be part of an organization that fosters an environment of support for each and every ridgeback and their family members in the DC metropolitan area and its surrounding neighbors.
